Perform leak test in a well-ventilated area outside and where no source of
spark can occur. Connect propane gas tank to regulator. Turn the on/off valve
at the unit to the ‘OFF’ position to pressurize the control system. Use a
soapy-water solution to check all the connections leaks before attempting to
light the appliance. If a leak is found, or you smell gas, disconnect cylinder and
turn valve off. Do not use the appliance until repairs can be made.
Before each use, inspect the hose. Replace hose if there are any signs of
cutting, wear or abrasion. Please keep gas tank a minimum of 5’ (1.5 m) away
from fireplace when lit. Observe flame height when lit. Flame should be a
yellow/blue colour between 2 to 10” (5 to 25 cm) high.
To Light
1. Be sure the control knob on the predestal

is turned to the “OFF” position.

3. Push the electric ignitor to light the burner. After ignition, continue to push
and hold the control knob for 15-30 seconds to heat thermocouple.
4. Release the control knob and turn it to the “LOW” or “HIGH” position and
the main burner will immediately light.
5. If ignition does not occur within 30 seconds, push and turn the control knob
clockwise to “OFF”. Wait 5 minutes, then repeat the lighting procedure as
above.
To Extinguish
1. Turn control knob clockwise to the “LOW” position.
2. Depress and turn the control knob clockwise to the “OFF” position.
3. Turn the cylinder valve on the propane gas tank to close the gas supply if
not in use for a long time.
