VII. Technical
Training
A. Overview
The imageRUNNER 8500 training will be initially provided through the
release of the imageRUNNER 8500 Certification Guide. Certification
Guides are to provide imageRUNNER 600 certified Technicians a
reference for new technology that is used in the imageRUNNER 8500.
The Certification Guide will highlight the differences, through pictures and
reference materials, between the imageRUNNER 8500 and the
imageRUNNER 600. The Educational Services department's intention is
to keep the certified Technicians up to date with current imageRUNNER
technology. The Certification Guide was announced on Canon e-Support
Services on April 4th, 2001.
The second phase of training for the Technician who is not currently
imageRUNNER 600 certified will be to incorporate the imageRUNNER
8500 into the already existing imageRUNNER 600 class. Here the
Technicians will learn, through a series of lectures and hands-on labs,
the workings of the imageRUNNER 8500. This updated courseware will
be available in the Regional Training Centers in August of 2001. Until
then any Technician can simply complete the imageRUNNER 600 class
and request an imageRUNNER 8500 Certification Guide to complete
imageRUNNER 8500 Certification.
B.
Obtaining imageRUNNER 8500 Certification
The Certification Guide:
All service technicians currently certified on the imageRUNNER 600 will
be able to obtain the Certification Guide in three ways:
1. Downloading it from Canon e-Support Services.
2. Requesting it from the Regional Training Centers via e-mail or on a CD.
3. Requesting a printed version from their Regional Training Center
All service technicians currently certified on imageRUNNER 600 products
wishing to receive imageRUNNER 8500 certification, using Canon’s
Certification Guide, must take the following steps:
1. Obtain the Guide from one of the sources listed above.
2. Thoroughly read the Certification Guide and complete the Exam at
the end of the guide.
3. After the applicant completes the Certification Guide, they can mail or
fax the Answer Sheet along with the completed Certification
Submission form to their Regional Training Center.
4. The Regional Training Center will grade the Answer Sheet and if a
score of 70% or higher is achieved the Technician will receive the
Certificate.
5. If a passing grade is not achieved the Service Manager will be notified
of the score and the technician will have to complete the Certification
Guide again.
