E. Device Security
1. Security Policy Settings
The security policy function is used to collectively configure the security-
related settings into one security policy. The security policy settings are
managed by a system administrator who serves as a security
administrator. The system administrator who serves as a security
administrator accesses the security policy function is only available via the
Remote User Interface.
The security policy setting function can be protected with a security policy
password to distinguish between system administrators and system
administrators who serve as security administrators.
A Security Administrator can reflect policy settings that comply with the
security policies of his/her company in the devices under his/her charge to
restrict people, other than the security administrator, from using functions
that do not comply with the policies, or from changing the security policy
setting values.
The information configured in the security policy can be exported or
imported by using the Device Configuration Management function or the
imageWARE Enterprise Management Console Device Configuration
Management Plug-In, and can be copied to multiple devices.
Refer to the imagePRESS Lite C170 / C165 Service Manual for more
details
2. Restrict Service Representation Access Function
The Restrict Service Representation Access Function is available for the
system administrator to prevent leakage and loss of user information by
restricting operations related to user information and security due to
unauthorized use of service mode. This setting can be enabled from the
Local User Interface or Remote User Interface.
There are three settings available:
•
‘Off’ - All the items in service mode can be executed. (default setting)
•
‘Off (Auth. Needed)’ – The settings related to user assets in service
mode can be configured/executed by performing system administrator
authentication before accessing the service mode.
•
‘On’ - The settings related to user assets in service mode can no longer
be configured/executed. The Restrict Service Representative Access
setting will need to be changed for access to settings related to user
assets in service mode.
Refer to the imagePRESS Lite C170 / C165 Service Manual for more
