1.2 Communication with the Host copier

The operating mode selected on the host copier is communicated to the machine in IPC

communication mode. The host copier’s self diagnostic mechanism is designed to detect an
error in IPC communication and indicate a code (E712) upon detection.

The machine’s IPC communication mode is known as IPC communication 2, which dif-

fers from the existing mode in that it enables exchanges of data at a higher speed.
