ACT-7 QUICK START GUIDE

Condensate

In operation, th e ACT-7 room unit condenses water vapour
out of th e atmosphere. This water is pumped away th rough
th e interconnecting line between th e room unit and th e heat
exchanger. Re-evaporation of some of th e water occurs in th e
heat exchanger, but water will also drip th rough th e base of
th e heat exchanger.

Consider carefully th e potential of dripping water when
positioning th e external heat exchanger.

Connections

The ACT-7 room unit must only be operated when
connected to th e heat exchanger with  th e interconnecting
line provided. Connect th e condensate drain to both  th e
ACT-7 room unit and th e heat exchanger by pushing th e
clear hose ends into th e grey connector (push darker grey
ring ‘in’ and pull th e hose to remove). Connect th e heat
exchanger power cord to both  th e ACT-7 room unit and heat
exchanger using th e sockets provided. Connect th e water
pipes to th e room unit and th e heat exchanger.

The interconnecting line should be routed carefully to avoid
any possibility of kinking or unnecessary restrictions to th e
fl ow of water. The line will be more susceptible to kinking
when warm.

Room unit fl uid level

The fl uid system in th e ACT-7 room unit should be at th e
correct level when delivered. Look th rough th e inspection
window and check th at th e level is between th e MAX and
MIN on th e tank in th e back of th e room unit. If necessary
top up th e room unit with  antifreeze (33%) and water. To
ensure th e system is properly protected, do not mix diff erent
types of antifreeze. Original specifi cation is eth ylene glycol
based antifreeze, containing rust/corrosion inhibitors, suitable
for aluminium systems, 33% giving protection to -20°C. This
specifi cation will protect th e entire water circuit down to
-20°C (-5°F).

The header tank fi ller is in th e rear of th e room unit and
can be accessed by removing th e two screws holding th e
security plate over th e fi ller tank cap. (See Fig.1).

Ensure th e ACT-7 is running in cooling mode before slowly
removing th e header tank cap. Top up th e tank and replace
th e cap and security plate. The approximate total volume of
th e system complete with  heat exchanger and lines is as
follows:

Line set length System

capacity

5m

5.3 litres/1.16 gallons

10m

6.7 litres/1.47 gallons

15m

8.1 litres/1.78 gallons
