7.0.2 The battery chamber is designed to hold six 100 amp-hour strings of front-post batteries. Four
batteries make one string. The batteries are installed in 6 modules of 4 batteries (6 strings).
7.0.3 A field-retrofittable battery heater pad is installed in the floor of each battery chamber. The heater
turns on automatically when the ambient temperature decreases to 40°F (4.4°C), and remains
on until the temperature increases to 60°F (15.6°C).
7.0.4 The batteries in each string are connected by interconnect bus bars.
Each string is protected by a 40 amp breaker on the battery disconnect panel.
7.0.5 A battery disconnect panel for strings 1, 3, and 5 is located in the battery chamber on side 1. A
separate battery disconnect panel for strings 2, 4, and 6 is located in the battery chamber on
side 2.
•
Strings 1, 3, and 5 are connected to the left DC Control Board located in the equipment
chamber on side 1.
•
Strings 2, 4, and 6 are connected to the right DC Control Board located in the equipment
chamber on side 1.
