Important:
Neatly arrange all cabling from the new power assembly in the area behind
the mounting location
before installing the assembly on the rack
. Only the power input leads
used in Step 3 should extend to the front of the rack.
5.
Mount the new DC power & distribution assembly on the rack.
a.
Position the assembly against the rack, approximately 1.5 RU above the floor. Align
the mounting ear holes with the counterpart holes on the rack.
Note:
To ensure that the fan tray can be installed and removed without obstruction,
position the assembly with its fan housing higher than the top of the door sill.
b.
Install (4) supplied mounting screws to secure the assembly to the rack.
6.
Optional:
To move the cabinet's environmental alarm reporting to the Calix E5-121
equipment, connect the new assembly's alarm cable to the cabinet contacts as follows:
a.
Locate the alarm cable lead labeled "Door Alarm" and route it to the door alarm
switch at the top of the front compartment.
b.
Disconnect the existing wiring from the alarm switch and install the new alarm leads.
Match the "Door Alarm" black (Common) and white (Closed) wires to the same
contacts as the previous wiring.
c.
Locate the alarm cable lead labeled "USAM Fan Tray Alarm" and route it to the fan
tray located below USAM shelf #2.
d.
Disconnect the existing alarm wiring from the fan tray and install the new alarm
leads. Match the "USAM Fan Tray Alarm" black (Black) and white (FPS) wires to the
same contacts as the previous wiring.
7.
Dress and secure all cables from the new power assembly as follows:
Route the assembly's power and alarm cables behind and to the left of the assembly.
Route the four E5-121 power supply cable sets above and to the left of the assembly.
Note:
If the E5-121 unit(s) will be installed at a later time, neatly coil the cables near the
rack and secure with cable ties.
