MONITORING AND TROUBLESHOOTING
4-4
-
Check the cable conductors for continuity.
Use cable testers designed for this task.
•
Check that MIMs in the MMAC are grouped together according to
their network type if they are not designed for standalone operation
(e. g., Cabletron Systems TPRMIM) along side different network
types. For example:
-
Ethernet MIMs must be grouped together.
-
Token Ring MIMs must be grouped together. See Section 2.1 for
information about installation guidelines for the TRMIM-62A.
-
FDDI MIMs must be grouped together.
•
Ensure that the maximum lobe cable lengths specified for the media
types used in the installation and also the maximum number of stations
supported are not exceeded. See Section 2.3.2 for information about
maximum lobe cable lengths for the TRMIM-62A. See equivalent
cabling and station-count guidelines specified in the user guides
included with other MIMs installed in the MMAC.
When these checks have been successfully completed for each connection
and any other necessary corrections have been made, the network should
perform normally. If, however, network problems persist, contact
Cabletron Systems Technical Support, as described in Section 1.1, for
further assistance.
