Catalyst Filter Tables
Vendor Table
This area of the Filter Tables view contains a list of vendor ID Þlter entries.
Double-click a table entry to access an entry-speciÞc Filter Vendor Table view
that allows you to modify the information presented in the table. The Vendor
Table and its corresponding entry-speciÞc views provide the following
information:
Module
Displays the unique integer identiÞer of the module where this port is located.
This number is the same as the slot number in which the module is installed.
Port
Displays the unique integer identiÞer of this port within its module. This
value is determined by the location of the port on the module.
ID
Displays the vendor ID portion of a MAC address. If the source or destination
address has the same vendor ID, a match occurs. If ÒDenyÓ is speciÞed in the
Type Þeld and a match occurs, the packet is dropped. If at least one vendor ID
Þlter is speciÞed with ÒPermitÓ and a match does not occur, the packet is
dropped.
Type
Displays the type of action this Þlter will cause. Selecting ÒInvalidÓ removes
this Þlter from the table. Selecting ÒDenyÓ causes packets whose source or
destination vendor ID matches the vendor ID speciÞed in the ID Þeld to be
dropped. Selecting ÒPermitÓ causes all packets whose vendor ID does not
match the ID speciÞed in the ID Þeld to be dropped.
Protocol Table
The Protocol Table contains a list of protocol Þlter entries. Double-click a table
entry to access an entry-speciÞc Filter Protocol Table view that allows you to
modify the information presented in the table. The Protocol Table and its
corresponding entry-speciÞc views provide the following information:
Module
Displays the unique integer identiÞer of the module where this port is located.
This number is the same as the slot number in which the module is installed.
Port
Displays the unique integer identiÞer of this port within its module. This
value is determined by the location of the port on the module.
Value
Displays the 16-bit protocol value. If the packetÕs Type Þeld or the packetÕs
DSAP/SSAP Þeld is equal to this value, a match occurs. If Deny is speciÞed
and a match occurs, the packet is dropped. If at least one protocol type Þlter is
speciÞed with Permit and a match does not occur, the packet is dropped.
