5 Installation conditions
5.1 General
Observe all applicable local installation regulations, general guidelines
and technical specifications. The unit must be installed by a registered,
qualified installation company in accordance with the installation and
operating manuals.
5.2 Installation site and environment
The installation site must be protected against frost and kept free of chem-
icals, paint, solvents and fumes. Neither the ambient temperature nor the
radiation temperature may exceed 40°C in the immediate vicinity. The floor
of the installation site must have a sufficient load-bearing capacity if the unit
is to be installed on the floor. There must
be clearance above the product to
facilitate emitter replacement (see chapter “12.1 Dimensions”, page 34).
If you install the product on the wall, ensure that the wall can bear the weight
of the unit and that suitable installation material is used.
If you install the product outdoors, ensure that the various weather conditions
cannot cause damage to the unit.
To disconnect the product from the overall system (e.g. for maintenance),
customer-supplied shut-off devices must be installed
upstream and down-
stream from the product. In addition, a draining device should be installed
in the
flow line
of the product.
If the cable length between the UV emitters and the ballast unit is longer than
6 m, please consult our technical department. The emission of interference
(voltage peaks, high-frequency electromagnetic fields, interference voltages,
voltage fluctuations, etc.) by the surrounding electrical systems must not
exceed the maximum values specified in EN 61000-6-4.
The operating space must meet the following requirements at minimum:
– The space is an enclosed room and can be locked.
– There are no permanent workstations in the room and the permissible
ozone concentrations for workplaces must not be exceeded in the
ambient air.
– An ozone gas warning device with an audible and visual alarm is in
place and the device automatically shuts down in the event of danger.
– There is an easily accessible emergency stop switch in the operating
space.
– All lines are tested for leaks and all devices are maintained on a
regular basis.
– A self-activating technical ventilation system with air intake is installed
at the lowest point in the operating space and the min. air exchange
rate is 3/h.
5.3 Circulation pump
To operate the product, a customer-supplied circulation pump must be
installed. BWT recommends a circulation pump based on the specifi
-
cations in chapter “12 Technical data”, page 33. The unit operator is
responsible for selecting and installing the circulation pump. BWT ac-
cepts no liability and provides no warranty for the selection or operation
of the circulation pump. Consult a specialist if necessary.
5.4 Circulation water from the water tank
The hydraulic conditions must rule out the formation of a vacuum in the
product. The product has been designed and built primarily for static
loads. Avoid pressure surges and fluctuating loads (e.g. from pumps
starting, pressure booster pulsation or quickly closing valves).
Suitable equipment for avoiding pressure surges or fluctuating loads
(e.g. soft-start pumps, valves closing slowly) must be installed by the
customer.
Do not guide the treated water (circulation outlet) back into the tank from
above because the ozone dissolved in the water is outgassed and then
cannot have a long-term effect in the water tank.
The water inlet into the tank must be positioned close above the tank
bottom, while the water should be distributed over the entire tank volume
using nozzles or filter pipes.
5.5 Installation
Use corrosion-resistant pipe materials for installation. Pay attention to
corrosion-causing chemical properties when different pipe materials are
combined (mixed installation).
In certain circumstances, the water must be pre-treated. Depending on
the operating conditions and water quality, the water may be partially
softened to prevent deposits on the emitter casing tube.
Make the emitter connection cable as short as possible. Do not lay
cable loops.
5.6 Operation
Technical consultation is required to ensure the fault-free, safe operation
of the product.
