EFINITIONS
Buddy has 10 keys on the front panel, 4 on left and 6 on right. Left side is referred as ‘A’
and right as ‘B’. All four keys on the side A are identical. Two keys on side B are identical
to side A keys and placed toward top and bottom edge and four-keys are grouped as one
4-way key and placed in between the former two. This asymmetric layout of the panel
helps identify the player orientation by visually impaired.
The essential key definitions and the ports/ connectors are tabulated below. The table
lists the generic functions of the keys, which change slightly within specific functions/
applications.

A1. RECORDING
Press to open Record menu to perform recording from Microphone /
FM Radio/ Line in. Record Bookmarks in DAISY mode.
Defaults to
Phrase Mode after time out.
Press and hold to record ‘Voice Notes’.
A2. CONTROL
Each press changes the DAISY navigation mode Phrase > Level 1 >
Level 2 >..> Level 6 > Page > Phrase.
Each ‘Long Press’ changes the LEFT/ RIGHT key definition to adjust
audio attributes: Prompt Volume > Tempo Rate > Graphics Equalizer
> Playback volume.
Defaults to Playback Volume after time out.
A3. SCROLL
MODE
Select scroll step size Ones > Tens > Hundreds.
Defaults to ‘Ones’
after time out.
Long press toggles between other DAISY Navigation modes: ‘Time-
skip’ or ‘Bookmark’.
A4. INFO/SETUP
Press to know the current information/ settings.
Long press to open context sensitive ‘Setup’ menu.
B1. MENU
Press to go to the previous level of menu. Also functions as a Cancel
key.
Long press to go to the Home Screen.
B2. NAVIGATION
UP/ DOWN: For Previous/ Next item (based on the Scroll Mode or
DAISY navigation mode selected)
LEFT/ RIGHT: Increase/ Decrease Audio Attributes (as selected
through CONTROL).
Defaults to Volume Control after time out.
