NOTE –
No routine tasks for the DektakXT system are classified as Type 4.
During any troubleshooting or maintenance activities that are performed while the DektakXT system
is operating, the technician should always be able to easily reach the

MERGENCY

FF
button on the
EMO Box (see
Figure 1-1
). In case of an emergency, the technician can press the
E
MERGENCY
O
FF
button to immediately stop the system.
In some circumstances, it is advisable to have two service personnel working on a system at the same
time. This ensures that one person will always have access to the
E
MERGENCY
O
FF
button.

Task Type
Description
Type 1
Equipment is fully de-energized
Type 2
Equipment is energized. Energized circuits are covered or
insulated.
Type 3
Equipment is energized. Energized circuits are exposed and
inadvertent contact with uninsulated energized parts is
possible. Potential exposures are no greater than 30 volts rms,
42.4 volts peak, 60 volts DC or 240 volt-amps in dry locations.
Type 4
Equipment is energized. Energized circuits are exposed and
inadvertent contact with uninsulated energized parts is possible.
Potential exposures are greater than 30 volts rms, 24 volts peak,
60 volts DC, or 240 volt-amps in dry locations. Potential
exposures to radio-frequency currents, whether induced or via
contact, exceed certain limits.
