Extension cable
The extension cable connects displacement sensor and driver
and, if present, forms an integral part of the complete system.

GAP voltage
The d.c. voltage at the signal terminal of the driver (oscillator/
demodulator) corresponds to the separation (GAP) between
target and sensor tip.

Nominal system length
The nominal system length refers to the distance measured
from the sensor tip of the displacement sensor to the end of the
plug connector that is connected to the driver. It is either 5 m or
10 m. The actual system length is governed by the electrical
properties of the displacement sensor and the cable. They form
