Preparing the TN starter, TN820, TN850, or TN880 

cartridge for refilling and resetting

Step 8a: Remove the reset spring

Remove the reset spring (A) (Figure 8-1).

A spring is not found on the TN starter cartridge. 

Step 8b: Remove the actuator gear

With the reset spring removed, we will now remove 

the white actuator gear (B), exposing the remaining 

gears and toner hopper plug (Figure 8-2).

Step 8c: Remove the reset gear

With the actuator gear removed, we will now remove 

the reset gear (C) from the gear train (Figure 8-3).

Note: The reset gear may vary in color and is not 

found on the TN starter cartridge.
