Section 1: Cut Pickup Bed Opening
Follow Steps 1 through 4 only if the vehicle does not have an opening in the
bed above the license plate per Figure 1

Prepare a clean, flat work surface for
tailgate. Remove tailgate retaining straps
with a screwdriver. With an assistant,
remove the tailgate by lifting away from
lower tension pins, and set tailgate aside.

Measure 21 inches from the left edge and
1¼ inches from the top and make a
temporary mark on the pickup bed (Figure
2).

Center punch the mark and drill a pilot hole.
Next, cut a 1-inch opening with a hole saw
(Figure 3).

Clean the rough edges of the opening with a
deburring tool. Recommended: Use a cotton
swab or small brush to apply corrosion
inhibitor to exposed edges (Figure 4).
Reinstall tailgate.
