HOW TO MAKE TOASTED SANDWICHES
1. When using for the first time, wipe the surface of the cooking plates with a damp
cloth and dry thoroughly. Then spread butter, margarine or cooking fat over the
cooking plates.
2. Insert the plug into the wall socket.
3. Close the sandwich maker and prepare sandwich while toaster is heating.
4. When the sandwich maker is ready (after about 5 mins) the ready-to-cook light will
come on. (If the sandwich maker only has one light then it will switch off.)
5. Fully open the sandwich maker. Place a slice of bread in the bottom half with the
buttered side against the cooking plate.
6. Press the bottom half into the cooking plate and place the filling on the sandwich.
7. Put the top slice of bread on top of the filling with the buttered side up and carefully
close the two parts of the sandwich maker together. Do not force shut. Steam will be
ejected from between the cooking plates while doing this and care must be taken to
ensure that fingers do not come into contact with steam or heated surfaces.
8. Lock the two halves with the wire clip while toasting is taking place.
NOTE: While toasting, the warning light will cycle on and off while the thermostat
keeps the sandwich maker at the right temperature.
9. Your sandwich will be toasted in 2-3mins or longer, to suit your taste. Open the
sandwich maker and remove the sandwich using a plastic or wooden spatula. Never
use a metal knife as this may damage the non-stick coating.
10. Close the lid to preserve the heat until ready to toast the next sandwich.
11. Prepare further sandwiches, if required, while a sandwich is toasting.
12. After use, remove the plug from the wall socket.
HINTS FOR BEST RESULTS
1. Always preheat before use. Plug cord into the power outlet while preparing the
fillings.
2. For soft or liquid sandwich fillings use medium sliced bread, white or brown. If small
amounts of filling are being used, use toasting bread.
3. Flavoured butters may also be used.
4. Suggested garnishes for sandwiches are lettuce, parsley, mint, cress, stuffed olive
halves, onion, tomato etc.
5. A teaspoon of sugar sprinkled on the outside makes toasted sandwiches crisper
(especially with fruit fillings).
CLEANING
1. After using and before cleaning, remove the plug from the power outlet and wait
for the sandwich maker to cool.
2. Wipe the inside and the edges of the cooking plates with kitchen roll, absorbent
paper toweling or a soft cloth.
3. If any filling is difficult to remove, pour a little cooking oil onto the cooking plate
and wipe off after 5mins when the filling has softened.
4. Only wipe the outside with a slightly moistened cloth and ensure that no moisture,
oil or grease enters the cooling slots.
5. Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring pads or steel wool as
this will damage the finish.
6. Do not immerse in water or any liquid.
