Connecting a USB storage device
and starting MP3 mode
In order to be able to connect a USB storage
device (e.g. a USB stick or a USB drive), the
USB cable must be connected to the mini-USB
socket

Connect the USB device to the USB cable.
As soon as a USB storage device is connected,
it can be selected with the
SRC
<
button. The
display shows "USB".
Displaying time elapsed or remain-
ing
To switch between displaying the elapsed or
remaining time in the current track,
f
press the

button.
Displaying track information (ID3
tags)
If the MP3 storage device provides ID3 tags,
the information for every track is shown once
on the display as scrolling text at the start of
the track. If no ID3 tags were stored with the
MP3 files, the file name is displayed.
Note:
For storing ID3 tags, please also read
the instructions for your PC MP3
software.
Displaying track information once
as scrolling text

Press the

The ID3 tags for the current track are shown
once as scrolling text on the display.
Switching the display of track infor-
mation as scrolling text on/off
(SCRL)
To activate/deactivate displaying track
information as scrolling text when a track
begins playing,
f
first switch to MP3/USB mode, if
necessary.
f
Press the
MENU

button to open the
menu.
f
Press the
MENU
5
button repeatedly
until "SCRL" appears on the display along
with the current setting, "OFF" or "ON".
f
Turn the volume control

counterclock-
wise or clockwise to switch scrolling text
on/off.
f
Press the
MENU

button, repeatedly if
necessary, to close the menu.
If "SCRL OFF" is set, the track information is
shown on the display in segments of 8
characters at a time. Each section of text, along
with the track number and the playing time, are
displayed here for 5 seconds at a time in a
continuous cycle.
Selecting a directory
To move up or down to another directory,
f
press the or

button.
Note:
The device will automatically skip any
directories that do not contain MP3
files.
The device treats all the directories
and subdirectories as if they were on
the same level in the directory tree.
