Starting Operation
■
Before starting operation, make sure that
the planer has been mounted according to
the instructions. Check all screwed con-
nections of the planer /thicknesser attach-
ment for tight seating.
Set the required depth-of-cut on the power
planer.
Press the planer lock-off button and actuate the
On/Off switch.
Lock the On/Off switch with the retaining clip 7.
The retaining clip may only be used to-
gether with the planer /thicknesser at-
tachment. Under no circumstances may
the retaining clip be used only with the
power planer.
For switching off remove the retaining clip 7.
A fast switching-off action can be effected by pull-
ing the string on the retaining clip 7. We recom-
mend using a safety switch (Euro and GB acces-
sory).
Planing
Position the workpiece on the thicknesser table 1
and push it through with even feed.

Always work only one single workpiece at
a time.

When planing short, narrow workpieces,
use a suitable safety push block made of a
soft material (e. g. a piece of wood) to avoid
kickback or jamming of the workpiece.
To achieve a good working result, carry out the
planing process several times using a low depth-
of-cut until the required final dimension is
reached.
The maximum depth-of-cut depends on the
mounted power planer (depth of cut minus
0.5 mm).
If the workpiece can only be pushed through by
applying a large amount of pressure, reduce the
depth-of-cut.
Remove the workpiece by pulling evenly.

When removing, the workpiece must be
held horizontally and parallel to the thick-
nesser table 1 so that it does not tilt down-
wards and cut an indent into the workpiece
surface.

The dust that is produced while working can be
detrimental to health, inflammable or explo-
sive. Suitable safety measures are required.
Examples: Some dusts are regarded as carci-
nogenic. Use suitable dust /chip extraction and
wear a dust respirator.
External Dust Extraction
For external dust extraction with a vacuum
cleaner, an extraction adapter must be used as
required (see accessories). Insert extraction
adapter and vacuum connection firmly.
The machine can be plugged directly into the re-
ceptacle of a Bosch all-purpose vacuum cleaner
with remote starting control. The vacuum cleaner
starts automatically when the machine is
switched on.
The vacuum cleaner must be suitable for the ma-
terial to be worked.
When vacuuming dry dust that is especially detri-
mental to health or carcinogenic, use a special
vacuum cleaner.
Integrated Dust Extraction
For small jobs, work with the dust bag (acces-
sory). Insert the dust bag connection piece into
the dust ejector. Empty the dust bag regularly to
maintain an optimum vacuuming function.
The safety switch (accessory) automatically
switches off the power planer in case of a power
outage and prevents uncontrolled starting of the
machine after an interruption in the power supply.
The safety switch also enables convenient On /
Off switching of the power planer in the planer /
thicknesser attachment.
