June 17th 2017
Installation - Internal
The
GasFinderAB
is certifi ed for use in a Bell 206 helicopter. It is normally carried in the rear
passenger cabin of the helicopter but can be placed in any location which does not interfere
with fl ight operation. The small remote display unit is placed within the operator or pilot’s view.
Temperature limits
•
: the
GasFinderAB
should be located in an area where the temperature
does not go below -20
0
C or above 40
0
C. A higher temperature can be tolerated for a short
time (1hr). These conditions are well within the operating parameters of the cabin.
Power supply
•
: the
GasFinderAB
operates from a regulated,12Vdc, 2A supply. This can
be from a 12V battery or a power supply module which converts the helicopter auxiliary
supply voltage (28Vdc) to 12Vdc. Special care should be taken to ensure that the polarity
is correct and there is a good ground.
Cables
•
: from the
GasFinderAB
there is a 2m cable going to the cell underneath the
fuselage. Care should be taken to route this without any sharp bends or tight cable ties
as this may compromise the fi bre optic cable. A 3/4” clearance hole is required for the
cables if it is taken through an opening in the fuselage but most operators will route the
cable though an opening side window and fi x it to the side of the fuselage with Duct
tape. A 2m cable goes to the display and a power cord goes to the supply. A 2m data
cable is taken to the computer.
Accessibility
•
: easy access to the front and rear of the
GasFinderAB
should be possible.
Mounting
•
: all units should be securely fastened to prevent movement during fl ight.
A licensed air mechanic is required for installation.
