Tips for Avoiding the Acrylamide Content
• Acrylic amide is a chemical compound. It comes from the
bronzing process (deep-frying, baking, frying, roasting
and grilling) in foodstuffs high in carbohydrates (starch
and sugar) like, for example, potato and cereal products.
• It is suspected that acrylic amide damages genetic
make-up and causes cancer. The actual risk to humans
is not currently known.
•
We recommend that you do not exceed 170 °C when
deep-frying.
• Furthermore we recommend that you keep the frying
time as short as possible and fry food to a maximum gold
yellow colour.
• Thicker chips or pieces of potato are less affected as the
acrylic amide is mainly in the outer layer.
• If you make chips from fresh potatoes, you can soak
the peeled and chopped pieces of potato for an hour
beforehand. This removes some of the sugars (primary
substance for acrylic amide) from the outer layers.
Putting into Use
Electrical Connection
1. Make sure that the iron voltage (see name plate) and
the line voltage match.
2. The mains plug should only be inserted into a correctly
installed socket with earthing contact.
Connected Wattage
The total power consumption of this appliance can be up
to 1800 W. With this connected load a separate supply line
protected by a 16 A household circuit breaker is recom-
mended.
CAUTION
: Overload!
• If you use extension leads, these should have a cable
cross-section of at least 1.5 mm².
• Do not use any multiple sockets, as this appliance is
too powerful.
Switching On / Off
• With the temperature regulator (8) in the position “
0
”, the
appliance is switched off.
• Set the desired temperature with the temperature
regulator (8).
Use
1. Make sure that the appliance is unplugged and switched
off. (The control lamps are off.)
2. Press the button (11) to open the lid of the appliance.
3. Pull the handle of the deep-frying basket upwards until it
locks into place. Remove the basket.
4. Fill oil or fat into the frying fat container. (maximum
2.5 litres). The filling level must be located between the
MIN and the MAX level.
5. Coat the inside of the viewing window with a little oil to
prevent condensation from forming. This allows you to
watch the cooking process without opening the lid.
6. Insert the plug in a duly installed protective contact
socket. The
POWER
control lamp lights up.
7.
Set the desired temperature on the temperature regula-
tor. The
HEATING
control lamp lights up. Then close the
lid during the heating-up phase.
NOTE:
Once the set temperature has been reached, the
HEATING
control lamp goes off. The power control
lamp remains on and shows that the appliance is
working.
8.
Now fill the deep-fry basket. Please ensure that the
basket is not filled above the hot fat. Open the lid and
carefully place the basket with the fried food in the
deep-frying fat container.
9. Now close the lid. You can fold down the handle of the
deep-frying basket by pushing the button on the handle
downwards.
NOTE:
• During the deep-frying process the
HEATING
con-
trol lamp switches on and off several times. This is
normal and it indicates that the temperature is con-
trolled by the thermostat and is being maintained.
• The frying times are to be found on the packaging
of the food or in the recipe.
10.
WARNING:
As it is possible that hot steam will be released.
Open the lid carefully.
11. Now remove the deep-frying basket.
12. You can let the oil drip off the food a little. Hang up the
deep-frying basket by placing the holder of the deep-fry-
ing basket (6) on the rim of the frying fat container (4).
End of Operation
1. Set the temperature regulator to the minimum set-
ting (
0
).
2. Remove the mains plug from the socket.
3. Allow the frying oil a considerable time to cool down. Be-
fore continuing to use the full frying pot, please ensure
that it is no longer at a dangerous temperature.
