THEORY OF OPERATION
Since the entire output section floats (and in some instances jumps as much as 300 V with the output
pulse), the drive edge pulses are passed through isolation transformers T1 and T2, following further level
translation by Q20 and Q21. A collection of flip-flops and transistors on the floating output section are
used for forming the signal that drives the gate of the output FET, Q7. Q7, via switch SI, connects
PULSE OUT to the high voltage power supply, PS1, to generate the output pulse.
Floating DC - DC Converter
Q24 and Q25 produce waveforms for generating the isolated power for the floating output section.
Transformer T3 provides dc isolation. The waveform is rectified on the output section to provide -7 V, +5
V and +18 V floating supply voltages.
