Precondition
The BMW V.O.I.C.E. II com-
munication system has a
socket for short-range devices
(SRD) for two-way radio com-
munication; these devices
were formerly known as LPD
(low power devices). In order
to use an SRD transceiver you
need a radio adapter cable

and BMW Send button

on
the handlebars. The radio
adapter cable must have two
three-pin jack plugs, one with
a diameter of 2.5 mm and the
other with a diameter of
3.5 mm, to connect to the con-
trol unit. Consult a trade outlet
or your authorised BMW
motorcycle dealer for more
advice.
Setting up an SRD

Opening and closing the
radio compartment and
adjusting settings at the con-
trol unit can distract your at-
tention from the traffic and
lead to accidents. Do not at-
tempt to operate the control
unit while riding.

• Use radio adapter cable

to
connect the two-way radio
to the

socket of the
control unit.
• Switch on the two-way radio.
• Place the two-way radio in
the stowage compartment in
front of the control unit.
• Close the lid of the radio
compartment.
• Connect the helmets (

• Switch on the ignition.
