If you continue to drive, be
prepared for unusual engine
behavior (low power, poor re-
sponse characteristics, abrupt
stalling, etc.).
Have the malfunction corrected
as soon as possible at an
authorized service facility,
preferably an authorized
BMW Motorrad Retailer.
Severe engine fault
The engine symbol flashes.
Possible cause:
The engine control unit has diag-
nosed a severe fault.
WARNING
Damage to the engine when
it is in the emergency operat-
ing mode.

passing maneuvers.
If possible, have the motorcycle
picked up and the malfunction
source eliminated by a special-
ized service facility, preferably
an authorized BMW Motorrad
Retailer.

Engine-oil level too low
The oil can symbol is dis-
played.
Possible cause:
The electronic oil level sensor
has detected a low engine oil
level. Check the engine-oil level
with the dipstick the next time
you stop to refuel:
Check engine oil level ( 110).
If oil level is too low:
Topping up engine oil ( 111).
Battery charge current
insufficient
General warning light shows
red.
The battery symbol is dis-
played.
WARNING
Failure of various motorcy-
cle systems, such as lighting,
