WEIGHT SPECIFICATIONS
PLEASE READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS BEFORE TRAILERING WITH YOUR
X5 (E53) VEHICLE.
THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS APPLY TO ALL X5 (E53) VEHICLES:
Maximum towing weight for trailers without brakes (on and off road)………….1650 lbs.
Maximum tongue weight for trailers without brakes (on and off road)…………. 330 lbs.
Maximum towing weight for trailers with brakes (off road)………………………3300 lbs.
Maximum tongue weight for trailers with brakes (off road)……………………….330 lbs.
THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS APPLY ONLY TO X5 (E53) VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH 8
CYLYNDER ENGINE/AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:
Maximum towing weight for trailers with brakes (on road)………………………..6000 lbs.
Maximum tongue weight for trailers with brakes (on road)…………………………600 lbs.

CYLINDER ENGINE/MANUAL TRANSMISSION.
Maximum towing weight for trailers with brakes (on road)………………………..6000 lbs.

Note: The tow bar may only be used with a suitable ball. It is only used to pull trailers
equipped with a suitable coupling. When towing a trailer, attach the hitch safety chain to the
lugs provided. It is not permissible to alter the tow bar. Trailer hitches damaged due to an
accident, bottoming or crashing must be replaced.
