HOW IT WORKS
Inside the reactor a UV-C lamp produces radiation with a wavelength of 253.7 nm. Radiation of this type
kills bacteria, viruses, algae and fungi (e.g. Legionella and Cryptosporidium). The UV-C unit produces clean,
fresh, clear water in an efficient, environmentally friendly way.
You connect the ”AOP Compact Ozone & UV-C 75W 2.0” on to your swimming pool system. Using
a pump, the water is pumped into the unit through the supplied reactor. Because of the water
pressure in the reactor, air is sucked through the Venturi system. Air is sucked into the unit via the
air valve and flows through the area between the quartz glass and the AOP Compact Ozone & UV-C
lamp. The lamp has a double function, producing ozone and UV-C light at the same time. Because
air enters the unit via the lamp, ozone is generated by the special AOP Compact Ozone & UV-C
lamp, which produces 0.6 grams of ozone. After it has passed the ball valve, the ozone enriched
air is then mixed with water in the system. The oxidation and sterilisation take place here, and a
powerful disinfection process is achieved. The water-ozone mixture is then exposed to the UV-C
radiation of the lamp. The UV-C breaks down the remaining ozone in the water, changing it into
OH- (Hydroxyl radicals) which have a very high oxidation potential.
The lamp has a double function, producing ozone and UV-C light at the same time. The ozone
particles in the water are completely broken down again by the UV-C device immediately after they
have completed their function. This takes place because the ozone is mixed with water as it passes
through the lamp for the second time.
CAUTION:
Carefully read these instructions before installing this device.
Always make sure to have a correct
grounding. When in doubt about the
grounding of the electrotechnical installation
in general, always consult a licensed
electrotechnical mechanic. Faulty grounding
can be dangerous, and/or lead to corrosion
of stainless steel or aluminium reactors.
It’s not permitted to flow a liquid through
the reactor or to add additions to the
water that has to be treated, which can
have a negative effect on corrosion
or degradation on the used materials.
This to avoid dangerous situations or
damage to the reactor and surrounding
installations and/or to the flora and fauna.
Radiation of this ultraviolet lamp is
dangerous for eyes and skin.
Always free the device of tension
first during maintenance! Risk of an
electric shock. Connect only to a
grounding type receptacle protected
by a ground- fault circuit-interrupter
(GFCI). Do not use an extension cord.
The quartz glass and the UV-C lamp will
stay warm for quite some time after the
device has been switched off. It has a
cooling time of at least 15 minutes.
Wear gloves to protect the quartz glass
and UV-C lamp against fingerprints.
Fingerprints can burn into the quartz
glass and UV-C lamp while turned on,
causing reduction of the disinfection.
Important
read this manual carefully before proceeding
to installation and commissioning.
