CAUTION!
Avoid running any of these CPU cables too close to
fluorescent lights, air conditioners, or other electrically
noisy equipment. If you’re not sure about a particular
device, check its manual. If the manual says that the
device isn’t electrically or magnetically shielded, or
warns that it might interfere with or damage sensitive
equipment, keep the cables away from it.
3.5 Connecting the CPUs
Here’s how to use the CPU cables discussed in
Section
3.4
to attach your CPUs to the ServSwitch Spectra.
(Make sure your CPUs are turned OFF when you do
this.) Attach one CPU—which will be referred to in
the rest of this manual as “CPU 1”—to the ports in the
Spectra’s “CPU 1 area” (the gray middle section of the
rear panel whose video port is labeled “
”). Attach the
other CPU—“CPU 2”—to the ports in the “CPU 2 area”
(the top section of the rear panel whose video port is
labeled “
”).
1. Starting at CPU 1, take the CPU end of the CPU-
Extension Cable. Plug the video strand into the
CPU’s video-output port. Then plug the keyboard
and mouse strands into the CPU’s keyboard and
mouse ports. You’ll need an FA212 adapter if the
keyboard port is a PC/AT type, and you’ll need
