Tighten the screw until it touches all parts. Make a final
visual inspection of the alignment of all parts and tighten
screw firmly with a wrench while holding the blade with
one hand and stuck with a plank of wood.
Spark. Check the spark plug for the first time after 5 hours.
Thereafter service the spark plug every 25 hours.
Remove the spark plug cap (Fig. I) of rotary motion
and remove the spark plug with the spark plug wrench
included.
Locate the dirt and clean if necessary with a brush copper
son. Check the spacing of the electrode by means of a
wedge (≈ 0.7 mm).
Installation is in the reverse order of steps.
If the plug is worn or damaged, replace it with a new spark.
Air filter. An air filter in poor condition reduces the
performance and life of the engine. It also makes it more
difficult to start. Regular checkups, especially when use in
dusty environments, are therefore essential. Check the air
filter every 25 hours or more often if the engine is operated
in a dusty atmosphere.
The mower is equipped with an air filter Briggs and
Stratton paper, to blow dry and clean ev ery ten hours of
operation, and change all fifty hours.
Paper in the filter cartridge must be cleaned with a
vacuum cleaner. If it is very dirty or soiled with oil or
gasoline, replace it with an original part or approved by
Black & Decker.
Clean the foam filter in a small bowl of warm water
containing a few drops of dishwashing liquid until it is
clean and free of any grease and dust.
Warning! Never clean the foam filter in a gas bath,
white spirit or other solvents. These products damage the
foam filter. Never twist the foam pre-filter for the spin, you
may damage it.
Clean the cover and inside the air box with a clean cloth.
Evenly apply a thin layer of oil on the outer surfaces of the
filter foam only, using a brush (you can use clean engine
oil for this). Replace the filter cartridge into the slot and the
cover of the air box, ensuring that each element is properly
fitted in its place.
ENGINE OIL
Checking the oil level
Turn the mower on a flat and straight. Unscrew the oil level
gauge (Fig. J) and wipe. Put the dipstick all the way into
the filler neck, do not tighten. Remove the dipstick and
read the oil level to the horizontal. The oil level should be
between the minimum and the maximum level of the oil
dipstick (Fig. J) .
Fill adding oil if necessary and repeat the procedure.
Never run the engine with no or too little oil. This can
cause serious damage to the engine.
Drain the oil
The first oil change should be performed after the first 5
hours of operation. These hours are considered run-in
period during which the engine must be provided. Then
drain the oil every 25 hours or at least once a year.
Let run the engine to heat the oil and make it more fluid.
This should be done outdoors.
Be aware that some parts of the engine can be very hot
and cause severe burns.
Disconnect the spark plug cap and unscrew the dipstick
level. Place a collecting tank Low oil in the lawn mower
at the oil filler tube and tilt the mower on its side (air filter
and carburetor up). Allow the oil to drain completely into
the collection container. Replace the mower on the wheels
and fill the oil as described in section (Fig. K).
Note: Used oil must be disposed of according to
regulations.
Adjusting the cable operator presence
The setting of this cable is done in the same way the
transmission cable.

PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT
Separate collection. This product must not be
disposed of with normal household waste.
Should you find one day that your Black & Decker
product needs replacement, or if it is of no further
use to you, do not dispose of it with household
waste. Make this product available for separate
collection.
Separate collection of used products and packaging
allows materials to be recycled and used again.
Re-use of recycled materials helps prevent
environmental pollution and reduces the demand
for raw materials. Local regulations may provide for
separate collection of electrical products from the
household, at municipal waste sites or by the
retailer when you purchase a new product.
