3. Starting Up the Device
Before you start using the kettle, make sure
that ...
– the kettle, power plug and power cord
are in perfect condition.
– all packing material has been removed
from the kettle.
Fill the kettle with water up to the MAX
mark and let it boil thoroughly once, as has
been described in the next section. Pour
this water away.
4. Boiling Water
Danger! Never bring the electrical base
near water - life-threatening hazard!
Boil only as much water as you need for
current use. That helps you save electricity,
water and time:
• Take the kettle
to fill water – never
bring the electrical base
near water –
life threatening hazard!
Open the lid
by pressing the unlocking
key
Hold the kettle
vertically while filling
water. Only then will the level indicator on
the side correctly indicate the amount of
water. Fill the kettle
...
– at least up to the MIN mark to prevent
the appliance from overheating.
– no higher than the MAX mark so that
no boiling water spills out.
• First close the lid
.
• and and then put the kettle
on the
base
, until it stands absolutely erect
on the base
.
• Now insert the power plug into the power
socket.
and press the switchdownwards, until
it rests in down position.
An indicator at the end of the handle
shows that the kettle is heating.
• The kettle switches off on its own, once
the water has boiled to the right tempe-
rature. The switch comes back to its
earlier up position and the indicator
switches off too.
To interrupt the heating, slide the switch
back to the up position. Even then the
indicator switches off.
Warning:
Pull the power plug out of the socket
before you remove the kettle
from the
base
. This allows you to prevent water
from spilling out of the kettle and fall on
the electrical connections in the base
thereby leading to a short circuit.
For safety reasons you should not open
the lid when the water is boiling or is still
very hot to avoid risk of injuries.
