DATA LOGS
The data log contains information relating to the performance of the thermal cycler, which may need
to be recorded as part of the experimental procedure, for example, Good Laboratory Practice. The log
file contains the temperatures and times of the steps throughout the run, in addition to information
relating to the instrument such as serial number and last test date.
PRINTING A DATA LOG
To print the data log it is necessary to have a printer connected directly to the thermal cycler. The
printer must be switched on and set on-line before the "Print data log" button is pressed. The printed
profile is 80 columns wide and uses only standard characters in the ASCII range, 1 to 127, so all
common dot matrix, pin-fed, continuous stationery printers can be used. For example one printer
which could be used is the Epson dot matrix fan-form LX300+.
To access the log files select "Data Logs" in
the main System User menu.
All of the programs for which a data log has
been generated are displayed. The cursors can
be used to access further files. To select an
individual log simply press it to select. There is
not an option to view the log file on the
actual thermal cycler as there is too much
information to display. It is possible to either
print it or delete it.
