STARTING AND STOPPING THE MACHINE

Please check the engine USE AND MAINTENANCE concerning the “operations before staring”.

-PICT. n°4-

STARTING ENGINE

Starting the engine of the machine always follow these instructions very carefully:

only  in  version  4  stroke  Check  the  oil  in  the  engine  :  THE  BRAND  NEW  MACHINE  IS  DELIVERED
WITHOUT  OIL  IN  THE  ENGINE,  THEREFORE  YOU  SHOULD  FILL  IT  UP  TO  THE  LEVEL  ON  THE  DIP
STICK OF THE OIL CUP.

Start the engine only in open spaces.

Check that there is fuel in the tank, and add it if necessary.

Ensure that the gear engagement lever is neutral. Keep your feet away from motor hoe cutters.

Petrol cock must be open (where fitted).

Activate valve lifter in diesel engines.

Pull the choke lever on the engine (on petrol engine).

Keep the motor stop lever pressed down with left hand  (see PICT. 4 ref. A) and at the same time pull to the
bottom the clutch lever (PICT. 4 Ref. “B” ) in order to block the lever (A) in down position.

Insert clutch blocking device (PICT. 4 Ref. “C”).

Turn the accelerator lever one quarter (PICT. 4 Ref. “D”). Pull the starting rope by the handle smoothly first than
strongly: when you feel some resistance don’t leave the handle but help the recoiling of the rope with your hand
(PICT. 5 Ref. “F”).

When the engine runs move the accelerator lever (PICT. 4 Ref. “D”) and warm up the engine sufficiently before
starting work.

When the engine is warm disconnect the starter (on petrol engine).

STOPPING ENGINE

Turn accelerator lever (PICT. 4 Ref. “D”) at the minimum rpm engine.

Close the petrol cock (where fitted).

Release the motor stop lever (PICT. 4 Ref. “A”).

The lever (PICT. 4 - Ref. “A”) also acts as emergency stop device; in such case releasing the lever the engine immediately
stops.

REMEMBER NEVER TO TIE THE MOTOR STOP LEVER TO THE HANDLEBAR KNOB USING THE POWER-HOE.

OPERATING AND REGULATING THE MACHINE

-PICT. n°6-

FORWARD SPEED

How to engage forward speed :
a)  Take the Engine to the minimum number of revolutions through accelerator lever (PICT. 4 Ref.

“D”).

b)  Pull the clutch lever  (PICT. 4 Ref. “B”).
c)  Turn the lever controlling speeds (PICT. 6 Ref. “G”) to the desired position: forward or reverse

speed and release the lever after engagement.

d)  Gradually release clutch lever and at the same accelerate the Engine.
e)  In order to disengage speeds, pull the clutch lever and turn the lever (PICT. 6 Ref. “G”) to neutral

position.

CAUTION

The lever controlling reverse engagement is a safety device; never use the motor hoe with this device not perfectly running

REVERSE SPEED

How to engage reverse speed:
a)  Take the Engine to the minimum number of revolutions through t he accelerator lever  (PICT. 4 Ref. “D”).
b)  Pull the clutch lever (PICT. 4 Ref. “B”).
c)  Turn the lever controlling speeds (PICT. 6 Ref. “G”) to reverse “R” position.
d)  Pull the lever controlling reverse engagement (PICT. 4 Ref. “E”).
e)  Gradually release clutch lever and at the same time accelerate the Engine ; reverse speed remains engaged as long as the

lever is pulled (PICT. 4 Ref. “E”) : releasing it reverse is automatically disengaged.

ATTENTION :
For  safety  reasons,  to  move  the  machine  backward,  keep  pressed  the  gearlevel
(backward) with the hand. Leave the hold to disengage automatically the gear.
