SWITCH CARD MODULES
The TLX640 contains 8 Switch Cards.
These 8 Switch Cards provide the mid-stage switch portion of a
three-stage Clos switch fabric. (The ingress and egress stages are located on the input output cards.
The mid-stage is distributed across the 8 switch cards).
The Switch cards are labeled from right (Card 1) to left (Card 8). These cards contain the cross-point
fabric of the switch and they allow 8 possible paths for making connections.
If a Switch Card fails, some
connections will not be allowed.
The hot-swappable feature allows for easy replacement of a Switch
Card without shutting down the TLX640.

TLX640
includes the following features:

Each connection supports 10Gbps/6.25 Gbps with re-clocking input

Multi-mode fiber, single mode fiber, CATx and hybrid configurations

Controllable via LAN or serial connection
•
Scalable from 20 ports to 640 ports
– In and Out for non-blocking matrix switching
•
Critical system components are hot-swappable: power supplies, fan trays, control cards, data
input/output cards
•
Supports multicasting and macros
•
SNMP control protocol
•
Expected to achieve the same Common Criteria EAL4, TEMPEST SDIP 27 Level B and NATO
NIAPC Evaluation Scheme: Green information assurance (IA) accreditations as our VX line of Matrix
Switches.
