Safety systems
¶
On erection and during operation, ensure proper
operation of the safety systems and perform checks
regularly and after any malfunctioning.
¶
Only ever have the lifting platform maintained
and repaired by Beissbarth customer service or
an authorised service agent with appropriate
certification.
¶
Always use genuine spare parts. The installation of
parts from other manufacturers renders the type
approval and any warranty claims invalid.
¶
In particular, make sure operation of the safety
systems listed below is always checked after any
malfunctioning.
Safety system
Function
EMERGENCY
STOP
function
By way of the lockable yellow and red master
switch.
Deadman
control
The lifting (
o
) and lowering (
u
) functions
are only active while ever the corresponding
buttons are being pressed and held.
Safety catch
Mechanically blocks the lifting column if one
of the four suspension cables is no longer
taut.
Foot protection
switch
Lowering of the runway is stopped
automatically at a height of 120 mm (foot
protection safety level). In this case, release
the "Lower" button and check the area under
the runway. If it is safe to do so, press the
"Lowering in hazard area" button. A warning
signal sounds and the runway continues to
move downwards until the basic position is
reached.
Slack cable
switch
Stops the lowering operation if one of the
four suspension cables is no longer taut.
Cable break
switch
Stops the lifting and lowering operation
if one of the four suspension cables is no
longer taut.
Hydraulic valves In the event of power failure the hydraulic
valves close and the lifting platform comes
to a halt.
Pressure limiter A pressure limiter safeguards the hydraulic
system against excess pressure.
Emergency
lowering valve
In the event of power failure, the lifting
platform can be lowered manually by way of
an emergency lowering valve.
Overload
protection for
drive motor
The drive motor is protected by a
temperature sensor. After overloading, the
lifting platform can be operated again after a
cooling-down time of 10 minutes.
The
foot protection switch
is located in the lower area
of the control column.

The cable break switch and the slack cable switch are
located at the yoke beneath the left runway.

The
cable break switch
is tripped if a suspension cable
tears. The "Lift" and "Lower" buttons are deactivated.
The pneumatic detent pins are extended. The lifting
platform is also blocked by the safety catch.
The
slack cable switch
is tripped if a suspension cable
is no longer taut. This situation may arise if the lifting
platform makes contact with an obstacle on lowering
or if a detent pin has not been properly set. The
"Lower" button is deactivated but lifting is still possible.
Remedy: Raise the lifting platform and remove the
obstacle.
