PLEASE NOTE:
With ATX systems, the power supplies receive the signal from the mainboard
connected in order to be started up. So please check, either with the aid of the
mainboard manual or the case manual, whether the ON/OFF switch has been
properly connected.
5. Trouble-shooting
IMPORTANT: Working on power sources may lead to life-threatening it injuries. If there
are traces of smoke, or damaged cables, or if liquid has been spilled on it, disconnect
the power supply from the mains immediately, and do not start up again. Never
unscrew the cover of the power supply. There are components inside it that even
after a long idling period may still be carrying high voltages. Have repairs carried out
by specialist personnel only!
If the system does not function properly with the power supply installed, please first
check these possible sources of faults:
A. Check that the power lead to the power supply is correctly and securely fixed
there and at the power socket. Ideally, use a separate socket solely for the
computer's power supply.
B. Check whether all connections have been linked up correctly to each other and
make any corrections necessary, e.g. if polarities have been reversed.
C. Check the connection between the case's ON/OFF switch and the mainboard. Keep
the manual for your mainboard to hand - you may need it! Switch the power supply
on by setting the switch to its "I" position, and operate the ON/OFF switch at the case.
If the power supply still cannot be switched on, continue with the next point.
D. Check your system for possible short-circuits or defective hardware, by switching
off the computer and disconnecting from the system all devices not required for
starting the computer. Switch it on again. Repeat this procedure, and after each
reboot connect one of the devices concerned, until you have found the presumed
defective device. If the power supply do not react because of a short-circuit, please
wait for at least 5 minutes before switching the computer on again, since the device is
fitted with an overload protection unit.
