This hub dynamo is not only compact
and light in weight, but also much
more effi cient, electrically and mechan-
ically speaking. This lighting system
ensures that there is less rolling resist-
ance, fewer defects and no slipping.
The wiring has a ‘push-in’ plug. Make
sure when disassembling the wheel
that the plug is disconnected fi rst. In
the event of doubt please consult your
Batavus dealer.

THE LUGGAGE CARRIER
As the name indicates, the luggage
carrier is intended for luggage and not
passengers. The maximum load of the
(back) luggage carrier on your Batavus
folding bicycle is 10 kg.
THE STAND
Never sit or cycle on a bicycle if the
stand is still down! This is for your own
safety and to avoid damage to your
bicycle.

SERVICES AND YOUR DEALER
Vital components such as cables, spokes
and brakes get the chance to settle in
the running-in period. Your Batavus
dealer may call you back one or more
times for careful examination and
adjustment or you can call in his help
yourself (41). Furthermore, he will, of
course provide assistance in the event
of breakdowns, doubts, strange noises
or obstinate faults so that he can de-
tect and correct any shortcomings at an
early stage.
However, to be able to continue
enjoying cycling, and cycling safely,
professional maintenance is neces-
sary, including an annual service. Your
dealer not only has the tools and
the experience to adjust and grease
hidden rotating components such as
the headset, drive and hubs, but his
expertise also enables him to recognize
small imperfections in good time. For
example, before the winter sets in or
before a touring holiday. Maintenance
and adjustment of the bicycle depend
on the use and weight of the cyclist.
Good maintenance is also extremely
important as regards the guarantee,
because it can lapse if your bicycle is
not maintained in accordance with the
guidelines stipulated in this booklet or
is not maintained by a competent pro-
fessional. For professional maintenance
it is often necessary to consult your
Batavus dealer. If you are in any doubt,
contact him. Please read the provisions
of the guarantee carefully, too; these
can be found later in this booklet.
TOOLS
A simple set of tools is suffi cient for
small jobs. You can do most of them
with the aid of a set of open-end or
socket spanners, hexagonal keys, a
screwdriver, a pair of combination
pliers, a bottle of bicycle oil and, of
course, a puncture repair kit.
We recommend the use of original
components when replacing parts, or
having them replaced. This is so that
the bicycle will function optimally and
because, in some cases, your guarantee
may lapse otherwise. Ask your Batavus
dealer for advice.
CLEANING
First remove the dirt with a brush. A
spiral brush (often used for cleaning
central heating radiators) can be re-
ally useful in reaching spots which are
diffi cult to get at (e.g. the insides of
mudguards).
