Solar LED spotlight “Vitoria”
°
Item no. 559551
Intended use
The product is intended to provide outdoor lighting independent of mains supply. Optimum positioning
is possible due to the separation of the LED spotlight and the solar module and the use of a long
connection cable.
If the brightness level is adequate, the NiMH rechargeable batteries inserted in the LED spotlight are
recharged by the solar module. The LED spotlight is powered by the rechargeable batteries in twilight
conditions or at night.
A distinctive feature is a PIR sensor built into the LED spotlight. It responds to temperature changes
within the detection range (e.g. if a person enters the detection range) and activates the LED spotlight
at low ambient brightness for the duration of 30 seconds.
The safety instructions must be observed at all times!

Safety Instructions
Please read all instructions before using this device, they include important infor-
mation on its correct operation. The warranty will be void in the event of damage
caused by failure to observe these safety instructions! We do not assume any
liability for any resulting damage!
We shall not accept liability for damage to property or personal injury caused by
incorrect handling or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases,
the warranty will be null and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modification of the unit is not permitted for safety
and approval reasons (CE).
• The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children!
• The product must not be exposed to extreme temperatures, strong vibrations or heavy
mechanical stress.
• The product is suitable for use in unprotected outdoor areas. However, never operate the
product in or under water as this may destroy it.
• The product is suitable for use only in moderate climate, not tropical climates.
• Only install and use the product when it is firmly mounted.
• Caution, LED light:
Do not look directly into the LED light!
Do not look into the beam directly or with optical instruments!
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a
dangerous plaything for children.
General Notes about Batteries
• Keep rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave the batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being swallowed by children
or domestic animals. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• If your skin comes into contact with leaking or damaged batteries, you may suffer burns. For this
reason you should use suitable protective gloves in this case.
Liquids leaking from batteries/rechargeable batteries are very chemically aggressive. Objects or sur-
faces coming into contact with these liquids might be considerably damaged. Thus, store batteries/
rechargeable batteries in a suitable location.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fire. There is a
risk of explosion!
Operating instructions
Version 01/14
• When exchanging/inserting the rechargeable batteries into the LED spotlight pay attention to the
correct polarity (observe plus/+ and minus/-).
• Only use NiMH rechargeable batteries (nominal voltage 1.2 V/cell) of the type AA/mignon for the LED
spotlight. Never insert non-rechargeable, normal batteries or rechargeable batteries of a different
type and design.
• If you have to replace the rechargeable batteries in the LED spotlight, always exchange the complete
set of rechargeable batteries. Never mix old/new rechargeable batteries.
• Always use 3 rechargeable batteries of the same type and manufacturer and the same capacity for
the LED spotlight. Never mix different rechargeable batteries.
Features of the PIR Motion Detector
The PIR motion sensor responds to temperature changes within the detection range, e.g. if a person
(an animal or a car) enters the detection range with a different temperature from the rest of the
detection range.
The attainable range depends on the ambient temperature of the background and the temperature dif-
ference or the size of the moving object. Under optimum ambient conditions, a range of 8 m is possible.
At high outdoor temperatures in summer, the range may be reduced, depending on the
mounting location, since e.g. a person cannot be distinguished easily from a warm wall.
At low outdoor temperatures, the detection might also be affected due to the heat-insula-
ting winter clothing and thus the range might be lower too.
A sidewise movement (and not towards the PIR motion sensor) of an object through the detection
range is an optimum case for detection of the temperature variation.
The PIR motion detector has a horizontal detection range of 180°. If you wish to exclude certain areas
from the surveillance, cover the diffuser lens with a non-transparent adhesive tape.
Mounting the LED spotlight
Choose the mounting location away from heat sources, e.g. air discharge openings, other
luminaires etc.
Do not aim the PIR motion sensor at the street, otherwise each passing vehicle will trigger
the PIR motion sensor with its heat, therefore unintentionally turning the LED spotlight on
too frequently.
We recommend a mounting height of at least 2 to 2.5 m.
• Remove the metal wall bracket from the LED spotlight by unscrewing the two retaining screws on the
left and right of the wall bracket.
• Mount the wall bracket horizontally on the wall. Depending on the material and condition of the wall,
use two suitable screws and dowels, if required. Avoid damaging cables or wires when tightening the
screws or drilling holes!
• Open the battery compartment on the back of the LED spotlight, by unscrewing the four screws on
the battery compartment cover and then removing the cover.
Now check whether the manufacturer has inserted a protection strip between the rechargeable
batteries and metal battery contacts and if that is the case, remove it.
If the rechargeable batteries are enclosed separately, insert the batteries paying attention to the
correct polarity (observe po and negative/-).
A replacement of the rechargeable batteries is necessary, if the LED spotlight only works
for a very short period of time in spite of charging it via the solar module for a sufficiently
long time.
Carefully screw the battery compartment cover back onto the battery compartment.
• Place the LED spotlight onto the wall bracket (the PIR sensor must face downwards, the LED
upwards) and fasten the two screws that you removed at the beginning.
Mounting the solar module
Choose a mounting site that is exposed to sunlight as long as possible during the day. The
more sunlight that is falling onto the solar module, the more complete the battery charge
will be. It helps to ensure operation in case of longer adverse weather periods.
The solar module should be oriented southwards and mounted via the adjustment mecha-
nism, integrated in the bracket, in a position enabling sun beams to fall perpendicularly to
the solar module at noon.
Due to the design of the bracket, the latter can be mounted both on a wall and on a hori-
zontal surface.
• Fasten the bracket onto steady surface using three suitable screws and dowels if needed. Make sure
you don‘t damage any cables or wires when tightening the screws or drilling holes!
• Snap the retaining bracket between the solar module and wall plate into place so that the sun beams
can fall perpendicularly to the solar module at noon.
