Installation
Heed all information contained in the chapter “Preparing installation”.
• Place the product on a soft, nonslip surface. The frosted glass must face upward.
• Loosen the two flat-head screws and remove the cover.
• Remove the frosted glass.
• Use the base unit as a template and mark the positions of both drill holes on the installation
surface through the two large screw holes.
When drilling or tightening screws, make sure not to damage any cables, wires or
pipes located underneath the surface
• Drill both holes in the wall and insert the screw anchors.
• Guide the mains cable through the rubber seal.
Also use a suitable amount of sealing agent (i.e. Silicone) for additional sealing.
• Fasten the base unit to the installation surface using the two fastening screws and two
washers.
• Slip the two silicone sleeves over the feeder.
• Connect the feeder to the corresponding screw terminals:
- Brown cable = L
- Blue cable = N
- Green/yellow cable = PE/ground wire, grounding symbol
The ground wire must be connected to the terminal block under all circumstances.
If the product is serving as a replacement for an existing light and there is no ground
wire, do not install the product. First install the appropriate supply leads.
If no ground wire is connected, there will be voltage applied to the metal product
housing in the event of an error. This poses a risk of fatal injury due to electric shock!
Make sure that the cables are not bare for too long as this may cause short-circuiting.
Make sure that all screw connections are tight.
• Insert a suitable light bulb (not included) into the socket. Observe the information contained
under Technical Data.
• Item no. 559521: Make sure that the rectangular rubber gasket is fitted correctly, then insert
the glass pane. Hold the pane until the next step to prevent it from falling.
Item no. 559523: Insert the glass dome into the cover.
Make sure that the cables are not squeezed, bent or damaged in any other way. Do
not exert any force when installing the product.
• Item no. 559521: Fasten the cover to the base unit with the two flat-head screws.
Item no. 559523: Fasten the cover incl. glass dome to the base unit with the two flat-head
screws.
• Turn on power to the circuit and check to see if the product works.
If the light bulb does not light up, cut the power supply immediately (remove the fuse
or turn off the circuit breaker).
Then check the connection to the power circuit.
In case of doubt, contact a professional (i.e. an electrician).
Replacing luminary
Before replacing the luminary, let the product cool sufficiently. If the luminary is not
cooled down sufficiently and you touch it, there is a risk of burning!
• Make sure the product is turned off.
• Loosen the two flat-head screws and remove the cover incl. frosted glass. Hold the cover and
frosted glass to prevent them from falling.
• Remove the defective luminary and insert a new one.
• Item no. 559521: Make sure that the rectangular rubber gasket is fitted correctly, then insert
the glass pane. Hold the pane until the next step to prevent it from falling. Fasten the cover
to the base unit with the two flat-head screws.
Item no. 559523: Fasten the cover incl. glass dome to the base unit with the two flat-head
screws.
Maintenance and cleaning
Never use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions, as such would
damage the housing (discolourations).
Never point a water jet, for example such of high-pressure cleaning equipment, at
the lamp, as that could damage the seals!
• Besides occasional cleaning, the device is maintenance-free.
• Turn off the product and let it cool down sufficiently before cleaning.
• Use a clean, soft and dry cloth to clean the housing. For more stubborn dirt, slightly moisten
the cloth with a little lukewarm water.
• Do not apply too much pressure to the housing or frosted glass as doing so could cause
scratching.
Disposal
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste.
At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to the relevant
statutory regulations.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the
environment.
