Troubleshooting
Problem
Possible cause
Solution
RS485 bus
communication
problem
•
No TER switch placed on
a Sentido keypad at the
end of a line
•
Multiple switches with
the TER switch enabled
Disconnect the power supply of the
Serial.link. Perform a resistive
measurement between the 2 data line.
If the result is lower than 60ohm than
more than one TER switch is enabled.
•
A line is tapped into
multiple sections
Check the bus for possible branches
No power on all lines
•
Short-circuit on one of
the power lines
Disconnect all lines from the Serial.link
and check each line for possible short-
circuits.
•
Power supply not
powerful enough
Disconnect all lines from the Serial.link
and check consumption of all lines
No communication
possible on one line
•
Short-circuit on the data
cable in this line
Check bus lines for short-circuits
•
More than one switch
with the same address
Check each switch for possible faulty
addresses
