6.5.2 Manual teaching using teach adapter
For a manual teach, a teach adapter is connected
between the sensor and the cable.
In manual mode, only a
Single Value Teach is possible in
Single Point Mode. For this reason, the sensor is always in
Single Point Mode after a successful manual teach
procedure.
Teach procedure
The teach procedure is automatically canceled
5 min after start.
1. Position the object:
– For output normally open (NO) : Position target
outside the detection range of the sensor.
– For output normally closed (NC) : Position target
inside
the detection range of the sensor at the
desired switching distance.
2. Press the teach adapter button until the LED flashes at
2 Hz.
3. Check response from sensor:
– LED flashes three times (2 Hz, 2 s off): Detection
successful, continue the teach procedure from Step
4.
– LED flashes at 10 Hz: Detection unsuccessful.
Cancel teach procedure: Press teach adapter button
until the LED goes off and repeat the teach
procedure as necessary.

Reposition the object:
– For output normally open (NC) : Position target
inside the detection range of the sensor at the
desired switching distance.
– For output normally closed (NC) : Position target
outside the detection range of the sensor.
5. Press teach adapter button until the LED goes off.
6. Check response from sensor:
– LED on: Detection successful, the teach procedure is
complete. The sensor is again in Single Point Mode
with a new, changed switch point.
– LED flashes at 10 Hz: Detection unsuccessful.
Cancel teach procedure: Press teach adapter button
until the LED goes off and repeat the teach
procedure as necessary.
