in IEC 61010-1. De vier overspanningscategorieën, CAT 1 t/m CAT IV, geven de ernst van een
overspanningsovergang aan.

categorie

Beschrijving

CAT I

Dit is de minst ernstige overspanningsovergang. CAT I-apparatuur kan
niet direct op de netstroom worden aangesloten. Een voorbeeld van
CAT I-apparatuur is een apparaat dat door een proceslus wordt
aangedreven.

CAT II

Dit is voor een 1-fase elektrische installatie. Voorbeelden zijn
