MAINT ENANCE & SAFETY
OPERATING PRECAUTIONS AND GENERAL MAI NTENANCE
Plac e t he unit on a hard and plane surfac e to ensure that it
does not tip over.
Do not ex pos e the unit , batteries or the CDs t o humidity, rain,
sand or an ex cess iv e source of heat from a heat er or direc t
sunlight.
No not open the apparatus . A gap of at least 15 cm must be
kept between the v entilation openings and the surrounding
surfaces in order to ensure s ufficient ventilation and avoid all
ac cumulation of heat.
The unit's mechanis m features s elf-lubricat ing bearings and
thus do not require grease or lubrication.
Use a soft and dry cloth to c lean the unit. Never us e cleaning
agents containing alcohol, ammonia, benzene or abrasives ,
which may damage t he cabinet.
CLEANING CDs
Use a soft and c lean c loth t o wipe away fingerprint s or dust from the s urf ac e of the disc .
Wipe in a straight motion from the center t o the edge. Very s mall dust part ic les and slight smudges
hav e absolut ely no effect on the sound quality.
Never us e chemical products suc h as s pray s for c onv entional (vinyl) records, anti-stat ic aeros ols ,
benz ene or t hinners to c lean y our CDs .
To reduce the risk of sc ratc hes, alway s s tore CDs in their case when not used.
Do not ex pose CDs to direct s unlight, high humidity or ex cess iv ely high temperatures for long periods
of time.
Never write or aff ix labels t o the CD's surfaces .
CLEANING THE LENS
If the lens is dirty, the sound may s kip and the CD may not be read c orrect ly. Open t he CD door and clean
the lens as follows:
Unplug the power cord.
Dust or dry part ic les :
Blow on the lens s everal times us ing a camera lens brush, then wipe it gently with the brush to rem ove
the dust. Then blow again on t he lens .
Fingerprint s:
If you are unable to clean the lens wit h t he c amera lens brush, use a dry c otton swab t o c lean the
surface, f rom the c ent er t o the outside.
