Battery and Charging
Follow the instructions in this chapter to ensure the full capacity and service life of the battery.
Correct charge cycle, safe area for recharge, and correct operating and charge temperatures must be taken into
account when operating or recharging the loader.
Remove the rear cover of the loader to access
battery and its connector.
Under the cover you can see the following main parts
of the battery pack:
1.
Battery pack: full battery assembly with
lithium-ion cells and Battery management
system control electronics inside.
This
battery pack assembly must never be
opened.
2.
Battery main connector - use to disconnect
the battery completely, or to connect to an
external fast Avant charger.
3.
Mains plug for recharge, integrated charger.
4.
Air filters for battery cooling system (not
visible in this picture).

Recharge - General principles
For the best performance of the battery, obey the
following principles:
Observe the instructions of the ambient
temperature
Never store the loader with an empty battery.
Keep in mind that the loader can use its
battery for cooling or heating of the battery to
prevent damaging the battery. Plug the
loader to a charger in cold or hot
temperatures, see pages 6 and 74.
Never allow the battery to become fully
discharged. This so called deep discharge will
wear the battery.
Do a full charge cycle frequently (keep the
charger plugged in until the loader multi-function
display indicates a fully charged state).
If you use an external Avant fast charger, use
the internal charger of the loader after a few fast
charge cycles.
.
.
It is recommended to drive to a charging location
latest when the charge level drops to 10%. See next
page for more information about recommended use
and charge cycles.
The battery can be charged at any remaining charge
level when convenient, the battery does not have the
so called "memory effect" that some other older type
batteries have had.
If you feel that the loader starts to lose power even
when the battery indicator shows plenty of charge
left, recharge the battery immediately.
See more information regarding the recommended
use, charge process, and types of chargers in this
chapter.
