.
Please notice following general instructions referring to the handling of Lithium-ion battery:
Service is allowed by trained personnel only. Never attempt to open the battery assembly. There are no user
serviceable parts inside the battery assembly.
Use only specified Avant charging unit. Do not use a damaged charger or damaged charging cables.
Do not short (+) or (-) battery terminals with conductors. Handle the quick connector of the battery with care.
Use the battery only for its intended application. Other use is prohibited.
Do not expose battery to
excessive mechanical stress
hot environment (>60 °C)
static electricity
Used batteries must be treated as hazardous waste. They must be disposed of properly, see page 96.
Intended temperatures for e6
The e6 loader can be used in a wide ambient temperature range. However, for the best performance and service
life of the lithium-ion battery, in extreme cold or hot temperatures the charger must be connected to mains power
supply. The temperature of the battery is controlled with forced air cooling and heating units that are controlled by
the control electronics inside the battery (Battery Management System, referred to as BMS in this manual).
The Battery Management System activates cooling or heating if the ambient temperature deviates from the
optimum operation window of the battery. However, this will use battery power and thus reduce the state of
charge. If the battery is empty and a charger is not connected, heating or cooling is not possible. In this case the
battery can get damaged or its service life significantly shortened. Follow the following information of
recommended temperatures. See page 74 for information regarding the storage of the loader.

In extreme temperatures (below -20 °C or higher than 55 °C) or if the battery state
of charge is <5% (“almost empty”), a charger must be connected and the charger
equipment must be active.
This activates charging and also the heating or cooling of
the battery as necessary to keep the battery within recommended temperatures. It is
recommended to keep the charger connected to the battery when the ambient
temperature is below 0 °C. If the battery does not have enough charge left for automatic
cooling or heating functions, the battery cells may get permanently damaged and its
performance may decrease.
For optimum lifetime, it is recommended to keep the state of charge of the battery around
40-50% (“half full”) and temperature between 0 °C to 20 °C during storage of the loader.
