Vortex Quad PCI Sound Card User’s Guide

Is there a resource conflict with another device? Use the Windows Device Manager to check for a conflict.
To open the Device Manager (Windows 95/98):
•
Right-click the
My Computer
icon on your desktop.
•
Select
Properties
from the popup menu.
•
Click the
Device Manager
tab.
•
Click the plus sign (+) to expand both the
Multi-function adapters
and the
Sound, video and
game controllers
devices.
An exclamation mark (!) icon next to an Aureal Vortex device indicates a problem. Select the device and
click
Properties
. The “Device Status” section indicates the source of the problem.
•
Check the settings for your PCI BIOS. Make sure that the PCI slot used by Vortex PCI is properly
configured and enabled. If you have an older PCI BIOS you may need to obtain an upgrade from your
system or BIOS manufacturer.
•
Make sure PCI bus mastering is enabled.
I Did Not See the Windows Detected New Hardware Window
If you didn’t see this window then shut down, turn off your computer, and follow the steps in Chapter 2,
“Installing the Hardware” on page 5 to re-install your card using a different PCI slot.
