4.2. ENGINE
OPERATION
4.2.1 START / STOP
-NOTE-
Check the level of the engine oil and coolant before starting the engine.
•
Control station selector
The engine can only be started from the selected control station.
The engine must be initially started from the ground station to ensure that all the oil pressure
and alternator indicator light has gone out once the engine has started.
Once the engine is running, the control station selection can be modified by simply turning the
selector switch to the desired station.
-NOTE-
The emergency stop switch must be released to be able to start the engine from the
ground control station.
To start the engine from the platform control station, the emergency stop switches of
both control stations must be released.
If the engine was started from the ground control station and the platform station's
emergency stop switch is actuated, the engine will stop when changing control station.
•
Start
Actuate and hold the pre-heating/start button
depressed on the control station until the engine
starts.
- When starting cold, the pre-heating phase may
last 5 to 10 seconds before the engine starts
(the pre-heating indicator light remains on
during this period). Hold the button for another 1
to 2 seconds after the engine starts.
- The engine starts immediately when the
engine is hot. Release the button as soon as
the engine starts.
•
Stop / Emergency Stop
Actuating the Emergency Stop button on the
selected station allows the operator to
disconnect the power to the controls and stop
the engine. From the ground control station, the
engine can be stopped by placing the control
station selector in the O position.
CAUTION
IF THE ENGINE DOES NOT START
IMMEDIATELY,
DO
NOT
KEEP
OPERATING THE STARTER FOR A
LONG PERIOD OF TIME: RELEASE
THE START BUTTON AND TRY AGAIN.
IF THE START-UP OPERATION FAILS
ONCE MORE, ALLOW THE STARTER
TO COOL DOWN FOR 1 TO 2
MINUTES.
IF THE ENGINE DOES NOT START
AFTER
SEVERAL
ATTEMPTS,
CONSULT THE ENGINE SERVICE
MANUAL.
CAUTION
ALLOW THE ENGINE TO WARM UP
FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE USING
THE MACHINE.
