NOTE:
For more information on the relationship between the number of both computers
and KL0116 units needed to control each computer, see page 46 in the Appendix.
It is redundant and expensive to use additional KL0116 built-in console switches for
daisy chaining. Instead, use KH0116 switches. These are similar to the KL0116
except for their standard housings, without the built-in, slide-out console.
1.
Turn off power to all devices with which you plan to connect.
2.
Use a daisy chain cable set (described in the Cables section, page 12), to
connect the Chain Out port of the parent (Master) KL0116 unit to the Chain In
port of the child (Slave) KH0116 unit (First Station Out to Second Station In,
Second Station Out to Third Station In, etc.).
3.
Use KVM cable sets (described in the Cables section, page 12), to connect
any available KL0116 CPU port to the Keyboard, Video and Mouse ports of
the computers you are installing.
4.
Plug the female end of the power cord into the KL0116’s power socket and
then plug the male end into the AC power source.
5.
Repeat the above steps for any additional KH0116 units you plan to add to
the chain.
6.
To power up the installation, do the following:
a.
Plug in the power cable for the first KVM station.
b.
Power on each KVM station on the installation in order of Second
Station, Third Station and so on. In each case, wait for the Station ID to
be recognized and displayed on the current KVM station before
powering on the next one. (The Station ID for the Second Stage unit is
02, the ID for the Third Stage unit is 03, and so on.)
c.
After all the KVM stations are up, power on the computers.
