relieve residual pressure in the
braking system/compensating
reservoir by briefly opening a
bleeder valve. Uncouple the fill-
ing tube (10/11) and remove the
ATE bleeding unit adapter (C).
12. Adjust the brake fluid with the
ATE suction bottle (A) to the
maximum level.
13. Check the ventilating bore hole
of the original brake fluid reser-
voir for leaks and subsequently
assemble.
Special bleeding
Special bleeding for vehicles
with ABS is not permitted!
1. Bleeding in special cases is
through the bleeder valve (from
bottom to top). Only this method
permits you to bleed with more
than 2 Bar (200000 Pa).
2. Completely empty the brake flu-
id from the brake fluid reservoir
by means of the ATE suction
bottle (A).
3. Connect the ATE filling pistol (B)
to the filling tube (10/11); open
the locking cock (4) at the filling
tube (10) (the locking handle is in
the flowing direction of the filling
tube).
4. Fill the brake fluid reservoir to
its maximum level; uncouple the
ATE filling pistol (B).
5. Connect the ATE suction bottle
(D) to a bleeding valve; open this
bleeding valve.
6. Activate the brake pedal to its
stop and lock by means of the
ATE pedal lock (E).
7. Connect the lever nipple of
the ATE auxiliary tube (F) to
another bleeding valve of the
same brake circuit and open this
bleeding valve.
8. Couple the filling tube (10/11) to
the ATE auxiliary tube (F).
9. Open each bleeding valve of the
brake circuit at the connected
ATE suction bottle (D) until the
new, clear, non-porous brake
fluid pours out.
10. After bleeding close the bleed-
ing valve at the ATE auxiliary
tube (F), and close the locking
cock (4) at the filling tube (10)
(the locking handle is in a cross
direction of the filling tube);
uncouple the filling tube (10/11)
and remove the ATE bleeding
unit adapter (C); bleed the sec-
ond brake circuit, accordingly.
11. Remove the ATE pedal lock (E).
12. Adjust the brake fluid in the
equalising tank to its maximum
level.
Low-pressure and leak test
In the event of a low-pressure and
leak test the unit remains connect-
ed with the equalising tank after the
regular bleeding process. The lock-
ing cook still remains open
• Unscrew the pressure control
control button (7) completely.
• Leave the system for 5 minutes.
• The pressure should not be
allowed to drop during this time.
• Check the brake system in case
of pressure drop.
• Reset the unit to 2 Bar
(200000 Pa).
Filling and bleeding of the
clutch system
Bleeding of the hydraulic clutch
system occurs through the brake
fluid reservoir of the master cylin-
der. In the event of possibly occur-
ring bleeding difficulties (truck and
bus) you may also bleed from the
bleeding valve of the slave cylinder
by means of the ATE auxiliary tube
(F).
Disposal of brake fluid
The brake fluid must be collected
according to the type in a suitable
storage tank (ATE 220 litres stor-
age tank system (G)) and disposed
of by an authorised waste disposal
company.
The brake fluid shall not
be mixed with other fluids
otherwise it must then be
disposed of as expensive
special waste.
Additional information:
Used brake fluid is subject to the
Administrative Economic and Waste
Management Act (KrW/AbfG) and
has been classified under water
endangering category 1. Under
legal and administrative regula-
tions the brake fluid (without foreign
substances) is to be supplied to
an authorised recycling and pro-
cessing plant (including energetic
exploitation), or to a hazardous
waste incineration plant.
This means that drained brake fluid:
• Is considered a water endanger-
ing fluid
• Shall not be disposed of into
drain pipes, waterways or similar
at-risk environments
• Shall not be disposed of along-
side household waste
• Is not subject to the regulations
of the Waste Oil Act
• Shall not be added to waste oil To
avoid mixing, brake fluid must be
collected separately and supplied
