Chapter 3: Driver update
3.1
RAID driver installation
After creating the RAID sets for your server system, you are now ready to install
an operating system to the independent hard disk drive or bootable array. This part
provides instructions on how to install or update the RAID card drivers.
The RAID card driver might be included in the Linux OS installation CD, and
could be loaded automatically during OS installation. However, we recommend
using the RAID driver packaged in the RAID card support CD for better
reliability.
3.1.1
Creating a RAID driver disk
You may have to use another system to create the RAID driver disk from the
support CD.
A floppy disk with the RAID driver is required when installing Windows
®
or Linux
operating system on a hard disk drive that is included in a RAID set. You can create
a RAID driver disk in DOS (using the Makedisk application in the support CD).
To create a RAID driver disk in DOS environment:
1. Place the support CD in the optical drive.
2. Restart the computer, then enter the BIOS Setup.
3. Select the optical drive as the first boot priority to boot from the support CD.
Save your changes, then exit the BIOS Setup.
4. Restart the computer.
5. The Make Disk menu appears. Select
PIKE 6480 SAS/SATA card Driver,
and press <Enter> to enter the sub-menu.
