Any time the fiber leads to the amplifier are disconnected, there is the potential for
contamination of the ends of the fiber connectors. Dirt or other contaminants on these
components can reduce the amplifier’s performance and can result in permanent damage to
the device. It is recommended that the fiber connectors be cleaned prior to connection, or
reconnection, to the system.
