Components

The B406-4 ELT main assembly is housed in a high impact, fire resistant, polycarbonate plastic case,
which is enclosed in a protective mounting frame assembly made of similar material. See Figure 1
B406-4 ELT and Mounting Frame Assembly.
NOTE:
The ELT main assembly and its mounting frame assembly are capable of withstanding
extremely harsh environments and have been subjected to the rigorous environmental
testing required by COSPAS-SARSAT for certification.

The cockpit-mounted Control Panel G737 (remote switch panel assembly) is a backlit panel comprised of
an ELT status indicator light and a control switch, which allows an operator to manually activate the ELT
for testing and reset (i.e., deactivate) the ELT. See Figure 2 Remote Switch Panel Assembly Front View.
NOTE:
The ELT CANNOT be disarmed or disabled from the cockpit. Cockpit operation is limited to
deactivating the ELT (i.e., reset) or manually activating the ELT.
