Turning to or from Prone position

Follow these 12 steps

1. 

Apply a sliding aid under the repositioning sling, 

see the 

MaxiSlides IFU. 

Alternatively use the lift, 

see section 

“Lateral Transfer Between Adjacent 

Surfaces” on page 11

 

Apply a 2

nd

 repositioning sling under the sliding 

aid if you want to turn the patient onto a new 

repositioning sling.

2.  Use the sliding aid and move the patient to one side 

of the bed. 

3. 

Position the spreader bar in line with the patient’s 

body. 

WARNING

To avoid injury to the patient, pay close 

attention when lowering or adjusting the 

spreader bar.

4.  Lower the spreader bar.

WARNING

To avoid injury, make sure the patient’s 

arms are placed inside of the sling.

5. 

Attach the loop:

• 

To turn the patient to the left: 

Attach the 

loops on the right side. Start at the head area.

• 

To turn the patient to the right:

 Attach the 

loops on the left side. Start at the head area.

6.  Slightly lift the patient to create tension in the sling.

WARNING

To avoid the patient from falling, make sure 

that the sling attachments are securely 

attached before and during the lifting 

process.

7. 

Make sure that all loops are attached securely and 

the patient lays comfortably in the sling.

Turning to the Side

Follow these 9 steps

1. 

Position the spreader bar in line with the patient’s 

body. 

(See Fig. 6 )

WARNING

To avoid injury to the patient, pay close 

attention when lowering or adjusting the 

spreader bar.

2.  Lower the spreader bar.

WARNING

To avoid injury, make sure the patient’s 

arms are placed inside of the sling.

3. 

Attach the loops:

• 

To turn the patient to the left:

 Attach the 

loops on the right side. Start at the head area. 

(See Fig. 7 )

• 

To turn the patient to the right:

 Attach the 

loops on the left side. Start at the head area.

4.  Slightly lift the patient to create tension in the sling.

WARNING

To avoid the patient from falling, make sure 

that the sling attachments are securely 

attached before and during the lifting 

process.

5. 

Make sure that all loops are attached securely and 

the patient lays comfortably in the sling. 

6. 

If an adjustment is needed, lower the patient and 

make sure that the weight of the patient is taken up 

by the receiving surface before removing the loops.

7.  Turn the patient to the side.

8. 

Place a pillow or wedge behind the patient’s back 

for support and to prevent the patient from rolling 

back.

9.  Detach the sling from the spreader bar.
